What does "shell price" mean — and what else will I need to budget for?
The shell price covers the fully manufactured cabin structure, delivery, and on-site assembly. It does not include your foundation (typically $10K–$40K), utility hookups (electric, water, septic), interior finishing beyond standard package, or land. We provide a complete all-in estimate before you commit a single dollar — no surprises at the finish line.
Modular Homes That Look Like Log Cabins

The Real Thing —
Built a Smarter Way

The most common question we get from new buyers is: "Will it actually look like a real log cabin?" The answer is not just yes — it's that most people who visit a completed modular log cabin cannot tell the difference from a traditionally site-built one. Here's why.

?
Do modular log cabins really look like traditional handcrafted cabins?
Yes — and the distinction matters less than most buyers expect. Our cabins use the same D-log, round log, and hand-hewn timber profiles as site-built log homes. The log walls, exposed interior beams, dove-tail corners, and traditional chinking are all identical in appearance. The difference is in the process: our logs are cut and fitted in a precision facility rather than on your land. The result is actually tighter joints and a more consistent finish than most site-built equivalents.

Traditional Site-Built Log Cabin

What You're Used to Picturing

Logs stacked on-site by a crew over several months. Every joint hand-cut. Weather delays, longer timelines, and higher on-site labor costs — but the authentic, character-filled result people have loved for generations.

Authentic log aesthetic Full customization 6–18 month timeline Higher labor cost Weather-dependent

Modular Log Cabin — Identical Result

What We Actually Deliver

The same hand-selected round logs, exposed timber beams, and traditional chinking — built with precision indoors and assembled on your land in days. Same authentic look. Fraction of the build time.

Identical log aesthetic Fully customizable 60–90 day timeline Lower total cost Weather-protected build

Real Log Profiles

Full-round, D-log, and Swedish cope profiles — the same options as any site-built cabin.

Exposed Timber Interiors

Cathedral ceilings with exposed ridge beams. Authentic log walls visible from inside and out.

Hand-Selected Timber

Every log hand-picked for grain and character. No two cabins have the same fingerprint.

FSC-Certified Wood

Responsibly harvested from certified forests. Beautiful, durable, and kind to the land.

?
Can I use any of these floor plans as a short-term rental (Airbnb / VRBO)?
Yes — and many of our buyers purchase specifically for that reason. The Smoky Mountain corridor (where we're based in Gatlinburg, TN) is the #1 cabin short-term rental market in the US. We can help you choose floor plans that are optimized for STR guest experience, and walk you through local licensing requirements. Several of our plans already meet Sevier County STR guidelines out of the box.

?
What's the difference between your Amish Craft series and the standard plans?
Our Amish Craft series plans — like The Hearthstone — are built by master craftsmen using traditional joinery techniques: hand-cut dovetail corners, hand-fitted log intersections, and traditional chinking applied by hand. Standard plans use precision-cut logs from our main manufacturing facility. The Amish Craft cabins take slightly longer to complete (add 3–5 weeks) and carry a modest price premium, but they have an unmistakable warmth and character that sets them apart. If you've ever walked into an old Appalachian homestead and felt something in the air — that's what we're building.
